Free seed packs offered through Early Sprouts program all next week

Feb 27, 2026 | 6:01 AM

The annual GP Grows program is returning to the City next week, with its Early Sprouts rendition.

All next week (Mar. 2- Mar. 8), residents can visit the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, and noon to 6 p.m. on weekends and pick between five “easy-to-grow” seed packs.

Seed packs will include tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers and broccoli and will give “gardeners of all experience levels an easy way to start seedlings indoors and transplant them outdoors later in the spring,” according to the City.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says this new program is an “easy and fun way to start growing at home,” and thanked the public for its “strong community response” to GP Grows, as it allows the City to add new programs each year.

There is no cost or pre-registration required for Early Sprouts, but the City does ask residents take only what they need.
