Mar 1, 2026 | 12:16 PM

Late last month, Grande Prairie RCMP executed a search warrant at two properties in the City, as part of an illegal drug trafficking investigation.

Mounties say throughout February, the detachments’ Municipal Drug Unit gathered enough evidence to conduct two search warrants on Thursday, Feb. 26.

With assistance the Grande Prairie Police Service, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Service, the following items were seized:

  • 144 grams of cocaine
  • 178 grams of methamphetamine
  • A litre of GHB
  • 5 handguns
  • 1 loaded Ruger 10/22 rifle
  • Over $15,000 in Canadian currency
  • 86,000 contraband cigarettes
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • A 2019 Audi SQ5
  • A 2024 Toyota Landcruiser

Twenty-two-year-old Zachary Taylor Bruce, 20-year-old Koltin Charles-Rumsey and 24-year-old Kael Jerome Bruce, all of Grande Prairie were arrested and face 21 charges combined.

Zachary Taylor-Bruce and Charles Rumsey had 18 charges laid against each:

  • Three counts of possession of controlled substances for trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Thirteen counts of other firearms-related offences

Kael-Bruce had three charges laid:

  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco products

All three were remanded into custody with a court date set for tomorrow (Monday, Mar 2).

Mounties do believe the handguns that were seized, had been smuggled into the County, and are working with the National Weapons Enforcement Team to determine the weapons’ origins, and potentially, additional charges for the suspects.
