A couple of mainstays in downtown Grande Prairie have been given awards by the DownTown Association.

Al’s News has been given the Art Ouellette Memorial Award in recognition of what the association calls “attention to detail, pride in property, and outstanding customer service.”

Al’s News has operated downtown for over 65 years.

The Grande Prairie Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has been named Downtowner of the Year.

The association says in a social media post that this award “honours a member whose collaboration, entrepreneurial spirit, and community leadership have made a lasting impact on the downtown core.”

The awards were announced at the DownTown Association’s Annual General Meeting held Thursday.
