Cold warning

Cold warning in effect for far north parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba

Mar 2, 2026 | 2:37 PM

Environment Canada has issued a cold warning for the northern Peace.

It’s part of a broad warning, stretching from the Alberta-B.C. border to Hudson Bay in Manitoba.

Locally, the warning starts just north of Hawk Hills up to the NWT border.

With the wind chill, temperatures are expected to drop to near minus 40, and residents are being advised to dress warmly in layers and cover up exposed skin to avoid frostbite.

Environment Canada says temperatures may moderate this afternoon in some areas, but could return tonight (Monday, Mar. 2) and continue on throughout the week.
