Greenview Fire-Rescue Services reminding residents to have fire permits before conducting burns

Mar 2, 2026 | 6:01 AM

With wildfire season having officially started Sunday, Mar. 1, the Greenview Fire-Rescue Services is reminding residents of the importance of fire permits.

The majority of Greenview is within multiple Forest Protection Areas, and fire permits are required to conduct any outdoor burning between Mar. 1 and Oct. 31, except for campfires.

GFRS says permits help ensure burning is done safely and that authorities know where fires are planned.

Anyone planning a burn over the spring and summer is asked to ensure they have a permit, are up to date on current fire bans or restrictions and follow all safe burning practices.

You can find more information about fire permits in Greenview here.
