Four-year jail sentence for accused after sexual offences against a youth

Mar 4, 2026 | 6:00 AM

Alberta Justice says a one-time school division employee charged with what police called “sexual offences against a youth” has been given a four-year jail sentence.

The accused was given the sentence on February 27 in Peace River court after pleading guilty to a charge of luring a child. Five other charges, including sexual assault and sexual exploitation, were withdrawn.

McLennan RCMP said at the time that they got a report of these sexual offences in June of 2023.

RCMP worked with the Western Alberta District’s General Investigative Section and the Crime Reduction Unit in their investigation. An arrest was made on February 7, 2024.

RCMP said the offences happened while the accused worked in the High Prairie School Division.
