Albertans invited to share thoughts on nuclear energy in the province
The provincial government says Albertans have one more opportunity to share their thoughts on adding nuclear energy to Alberta’s energy mix by completing an online survey.
The Nuclear Energy Survey is open to all Albertans and will run from March 3 until March 24. The government says it will be one of the final engagement activities undertaken by Alberta’s Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel and help determine how the province will move forward on adding nuclear power to the energy mix to meet growing electricity demands.
“Meeting Alberta’s growing electricity needs means securing a strong energy future now,” explained Chantelle de Jonge, parliamentary secretary, Affordability and Utilities, in a press release this week. “On behalf of the Nuclear Energy Engagement and Advisory Panel, I want to thank everyone who has participated in the engagement process. By sharing your thoughts on nuclear power, you’re helping ensure the province’s next steps reflect the values and priorities of everyone who calls Alberta home.”
According to government officials, the survey follows a series of successful engagement activities. Since the launch of the nuclear engagement process in August 2025, the province claims almost 5,000 Albertans have shared feedback during the initial nuclear energy development survey informing the engagement process.
