After a weekend of wind warnings, wind speeds have returned to normal.

Over the weekend, multiple wind warnings were issued across the province, with over a dozen local power outages reported.

Wind speeds peaked at 98 km/h according to Environment Canada, with daily weather records broken on Saturday, Mar. 7 and Sunday, Mar. 8, for both wind speed and gusts.

On Saturday, Canada Weather Stats says the maximum wind speed record was broken, as Grande Prairie saw speeds of up to 66 km/h; Sunday, the maximum speed and maximum wind gust speed record was shattered as speeds reached the 76 km/h mark, while gusts maxed out at 97 km/h.

Now, wind speeds in Grande Prairie sit at 10 km/h, a drastic shift from only 24 hours ago.
