City of GP celebrating Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day with free transit Mar. 18

Mar 12, 2026 | 6:01 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is encouraging residents to take advantage of free transit service next Wednesday.

Wednesday, Mar. 18, is Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day, and the city is offering free rides all day long to explore local routes, visit local destinations, or just try transit for the first time while celebrating our transit workers.

“Transit workers play an important role in keeping our community connected,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton.

“Their work supports residents throughout the day and helps people stay connected to the places that matter in their lives. Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day is a great opportunity to thank a transit worker and hop on board for a free ride. If you haven’t tried transit before, it’s a great day to give it a try.”

Transit is available on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.
