Possible measles exposure during Calgary to Grande Prairie journey

Mar 18, 2026 | 7:39 PM

The province has sent out a public alert for a possible measles exposure for a journey that started at the airport in Calgary and ended at the Cold Shot Bus Terminal in Grande Prairie.

Provincial officials say someone with measles was at the Calgary airport late in the afternoon on March 10.

They then got on a Cold Shot bus at the Calgary Terminal, then travelled through Red Deer and Edmonton before arriving in Grande Prairie.

Health officials say the exposure period for measles at the Grande Prairie terminal was between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on March 11.

A release from the province says anyone born after 1970, and who had fewer than two doses of the measles vaccine, may be at risk of developing the disease.

Symptoms include a fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a rash that starts three to seven days after the fever comes on.

Anyone who may have measles is asked to stay home and call the measles hotline at 1-844-944-3434.
