Water Advisory Mar. 9

Teepee Creek water infrastructure temporarily fixed

Mar 18, 2026 | 1:40 PM

Teepee Creek residents have been seeking more information regarding last week’s water advisory.

On Monday, Mar. 9, a water advisory was issued for Teepee Creek due to high levels of manganese, resulting in the temporary closure of local businesses and the Teepee Creek school.

Water quality was then restored on Tuesday, Mar. 10, thanks to temporary repairs.

Municipal Utilities Department Director, Dalen Peterson says “final repairs are pending equipment delivery at this point, which in this case are some new green sand filters to deal with the manganese issue in the raw water; in order to bring the concentrations down under the MAC, which is the Maximum Allowable Concentration in the federal guidelines for drinking water.”

“Our estimated lead time on that is approximately six weeks.”

“So in the meantime, what we’re doing is trucking in potable water to feed our system, shutting down our source well, as we can’t treat for the manganese concentrations in there.”

He adds that “the potable water is safe to drink and use,” which has led to local businesses and schools operating as normal.

Peterson does note that if anyone sees anything “concerning” coming from their tap, you should let the County know, as “that could indicate another problem.”

Residents can contact the Transportation and Utilities department directly at 780-532-7393 or the County administration building at 780-532-9722.

The community is also being reminded that Aquatera does not have any involvement in these ongoing repairs and won’t be able to answer any questions regarding the water advisory.

Peterson adds that anyone looking for water chemical concentration results can access them by contacting the County; however, bacteriological sampling is done by AHS and is more difficult to retrieve.
