City of Dawson Creek announces new steps forward in Water Supply System project

The City of Dawson Creek is sharing an update on their water supply system project.

Several steps are being announced to ensure improved communication and transparency regarding the proposed effort to bring water from the Peace River to Dawson Creek through a transmission line.

These steps are:

• Strengthening the project team to support technical planning and engagement
• Improving communications and public engagement to ensure clearer information and more opportunities for input
• Working with provincial and federal partners to explore funding options for the project
• Renewing engagement with Indigenous communities to support meaningful dialogue and incorporate Indigenous knowledge into project planning

The project remains in the early development phase and is meant to address Dawson Creek’s escalating water issues.
