Grande Prairie RCMP arrest suspect in attempted abduction

Grande Prairie RCMP have made an arrest in connection to an attempted abduction.

On Saturday Mar. 21, at 9:53 p.m. Mounties responded to a report of a male suspect following a 10-year-old girl and, when she fled into a friend’s home, attempting to convince the homeowners to send her outside, and even attempting to force the door open.

RCMP identified the suspect as 50-year-old George Wilson, a resident of Grande Prairie, who was subsequently arrested on Sunday Mar. 22 on charges of abduction of a person under 14 years-old and mischief under $5000.

Wilson was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions.

He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie April 8.
