Spring weather in the Peace Region has been nothing short of interesting so far.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says the Grande Prairie area set a new daily low temperature record for March 26, dipping to -28.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

That temperature beat the over six decade old record of -24.4 set back in 1965! Records in this area have been kept since 1922.

The normal temperature for this time of year is +5 degrees Celsius max and -6 degrees Celsius minimum.

Other northern spots also experienced the mini cold snap, breaking the minimum record low in High Level of -36.1, compared to -35.6 in 1974, and -29.7 in Red Earth Creek that well surpassed the 2004 record of -19.6.
