City of Grande Prairie kicks off 2026 Spring Scrub

Apr 1, 2026 | 4:02 PM

The City of Grande Prairie is once again encouraging residents to help clean up their city over April.

Grande Prairie’s City Scrub runs all throughout this month, with residents asked to spend 20 minutes picking up litter in parks, neighbourhoods, and public spaces.

“City Scrub is one of those initiatives that really shows the pride people have in Grande Prairie,” says City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “It’s amazing what a small amount of time can do when people come together. Whether it’s neighbours, classrooms, or coworkers, these moments help build a stronger, more connected, and caring community for everyone.”

The city is giving away free cleaning supplies at several facilities while supplies last.

Significant amounts of snow and ice are still covering litter in some areas, and residents are advised to plan their cleanup for when conditions allow.

The city is reminding everyone to dress for the weather and stay safe by avoiding icy areas while picking up litter.
