RCMP investigate Hwy. 43 fatal pedestrian collision

Apr 7, 2026 | 1:59 PM

A fatal motor collision this morning (Tuesday, Apr. 7), east of the Highway 43-Highway 2 interchange, has Clairmont RCMP looking for the driver of a semi.

Mounties say they received reports of a man sitting on Highway 43 around 3:15 a.m., just west of Range Road 55.

By the time Officers arrived, the man had been struck and killed by a vehicle, possibly a semi, which did not remain at the scene.

Roadblocks were then set up by Valleyview RCMP but were unsuccessful; however, their investigation revealed another semi hauling a trailer stopped at the scene while travelling east, but left before RCMP arrived.

Now, police are wishing to speak with the driver of that semi-truck that stopped at the scene.

Mounties also ask anyone who was in the area between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. this morning and witnessed anything or has dashcam footage to contact the Clairmont detachment at 780-830-5112, or Crime Stoppers.
