UPDATE: Alberta RCMP MCU make arrest in Valleyview death

UPDATE 2 at 5:56 p.m. April 13 – RCMP say the semi truck and driver witness have been identified. Mounties are again thanking the public for its help in the investigation.

UPDATE 1: An arrest has been made in the murder of a Valleyview resident.

Around 11:30 p.m. Apr. 9, Valleyview RCMP were made aware of a male lying in the streets near 3802 Highway Street. The man was later declared deceased by EMS.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) took charge of the investigation and arrested 27-year-old Valleyview resident Jayden Houle.

Houle has been charged with the second-degree murder of 38-year-old Valleyview resident Dolan Badger.

Houle was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 13, 2026.

Alberta RCMP MCU is still gathering evidence for the investigation and is still hoping to speak with the driver of a semi-truck who was passing in the area when the altercation occurred.

ORIGINAL STORY – Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken charge of a sudden death investigation in Valleyview.

Around 11:39 p.m. on Apr. 9, Valleyview RCMP received a report of a male lying in the streets near 3802 Highway Street.

EMS declared the male deceased, and investigators have secured the scene.

Mounties say suspicious injuries have been located on the deceased, and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Alberta RCMP, MCU, and Valleyview RCMP are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Valleyview RCMP at 780-524-3345.
