GPPS squad car damaged after wildlife hit & run

GPPS are reporting an unusual incident that led to the damage of one of its police cruisers over the weekend.

Late Saturday night (Apr. 18), while travelling along 100 Ave, between 102 and 105 Street, a moose collided with a squad car, damaging the rear passenger side.

Police say the moose then fled before it could be assessed, and although at fault, no summons has been issued.

Officers are now using this as an opportunity to remind drivers to stay alert and slow down in areas where wildfire may be present, especially during times of low visibility.
