Winter snow clearing transitions to spring operations

Apr 21, 2026 | 12:30 PM

The City of Grande Prairie says with warmer temperatures now sticking around, winter road maintenance is shifting towards spring maintenance.

This means snow clearing and ice control are in the rearview mirror and crews are fully focused on managing melt conditions and preparing roads for the warm months.

Work will consist of pothole repairs, removing snow piles on residential roads like cul-de-sac’s, and sweeping of islands and gutters on main arterial roads.

The City says as conditions continue to change, crews will respond to issues that need higher attention, such as potential drainage concerns.
