Classroom Champions stop in Hythe features Alberta Olympian

Apr 22, 2026 | 6:03 AM

A Canadian Olympian will be doing a Classroom Champions presentation today (Wednesday, April 22) at Hythe Regional School.

Kacie Bosch competed in 3×3 basketball in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Bosch says there are a lot of things she wants to tell the kids.

“The message that I really like to share is that there’s a role for everybody, no matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, and to stay true to what you know you bring as an individual and let that help guide you.”

Bosch works as a substitute teacher in Lethbridge. She says Classroom Champions is a way to give back, especially in Alberta.

“Rural Alberta schools, I feel like, don’t always (have) elite athletes be able to reach out and help at schools. Even if it’s not accessible location-wise, I think it’s a really cool opportunity.”

Bosch says being a teacher means she understands the value of role models visiting schools, something that can be hard to do in rural communities.

She adds it is fun to be around kids.

“They’re just starting out their careers. They’re starting to figure out who they are and the sports they like, the things that interest them.”

“Just seeing the pure passion that children have, it really makes you reflect into your own practice as an athlete to really always try to find the joy and bring back the little things that make you excited about your sport.”

Bosch says she would like to continue with Classroom Champions, but that will depend on her teaching and basketball careers.

She will be attending a 3×3 training camp on May 9 in Calgary. The season’s first tournament will take place the week after.
