Flood alert issued for part of Peace River

The Town of Peace River has issued a flood alert.

An Alberta Emergency Alert sent out Thursday afternoon (April 23) says there is potential for flooding of the Heart River and areas close by.

The alert is for everyone from the Highway 2 Bridge to 104 Avenue.

No evacuation is needed at this time, but people are being advised to prepare to leave on short notice.

They should get fuel for their vehicles, gather important documents, medication, food, water, and pets.

Residents should be ready to be away from home for three days.
