Arrest made in Peace River homicide investigation

Alberta RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit is providing an update on its homicide investigation in Peace River.

Mounties say an arrest has been made, and the victim is being identified as 74-year-old Hashi Guled.

Thirty-seven-year-old Daniel Michel Campion has been arrested and remanded into custody on three charges, with a court date set for May 25 in Peace River.

  • Manslaughter
  • Criminal negligence causing death
  • Dangerous driving causing death

RCMP MCU Staff Sergeant Tyrone Brand says they “received a great deal of helpful tips from the public during this investigation,” and thanked the public for their assistance.

“With community support, we were able to quickly identify and arrest the suspect in this tragic death.”
