Two girls from the Peace region now have the right to call themselves National Champions.

Both Taylor Wasylchew and Kasey McLeod, of Grande Prairie, were a part of the U18 Red Deer Chiefs’ 4-3 overtime win yesterday in Dieppe, New Brunswick (Saturday, April 25), where they took down the Ontario representative, the Stoney Creek Sabres.

The Chiefs went undefeated throughout the tournament, after finishing 4-0 through round-robin play, and have now claimed their first national title in program history.

In seven games, McLeod recorded three assists, while Wasylchew had two points with a goal.
