NWP hosting mass-casualty training event

Apr 27, 2026 | 1:46 PM

Northwestern Polytechnic is hosting a multi-agency mass casualty training event Tuesday, April 28.

Residents passing NWP’s parking lot may hear loud noises and see simulated casualties while emergency responders conduct mock rescues and evacuations.

The exercise is primarily set to take place at the parking lot, with ground transportation between NWP and GPRH, as well as activity on the GPRH helipad.

More than 100 participants are expected, including volunteer patients, post-secondary students, and current industry professionals.

“Multi-agency collaboration is critical to improving outcomes in high-stakes emergencies. This exercise gives our students and future colleagues the opportunity to strengthen coordination, decision-making, and communication in real-world conditions,” said Dr. Vanessa Sheane, president and CEO of NWP. “We appreciate the public’s support as we work together to build a safer, more resilient community.”

The simulation is set to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
