Fire Danger level rises to moderate in Peace River Forest Area

Apr 29, 2026 | 10:43 AM

The fire danger level in the Peace River Forest Area has risen to moderate.

Due to areas of drying vegetation, Alberta wildfire is reminding everyone within the forest area to be fire safe as creeping or gentle surface fires become more likely.

There are currently no active wildfires in the PFA, but a prescribed burn is taking place east of the Peace River Valley, 15 kilometres east of the Hamlet of Deadwood.

Alberta wildfire is reminding everyone that from March 1 to Oct. 31, all burning requires a fire permit, and anyone that conducted a burn during the winter should check the site for underground smouldering.
