Tickets, arrests, and towed vehicles during GPES initiative

Grande Prairie Enforcement Services has been working with Vehicle Safety Investigators to remove some rust-buckets from local roadways.

GPES says this was done as part of an initiative to remove unsafe vehicles from the road last week.

Over the course of three days, four inspection notices and 15 tickets were issued, while eight vehicles were towed and removed from the streets; Peace Officer Sergeant Ryan Hoffman adds that one of the eight had “a hole in the floor,” while another “was using a screwdriver to start the ignition.”

During the stops, officers also removed two uninsured vehicles, found one resident driving while suspended and arrested five wanted individuals on outstanding warrants.

“Vehicles like these pose a risk not only to the driver, but to everyone on the road,” and GPES is using this initiative to remind drivers that maintaining a roadworthy vehicle helps keep everyone safe.
