Parkside Montessori PE teacher recognized with national award
A PE teacher from Parkside Montessori is being recognized for his lasting impact on his students and community.
Monty Simo has been named a recipient of the national teaching excellence award in physical and health education.
“Monty has a remarkable ability to connect with every student in a genuine and meaningful way,” said Corrine Shmyruk, principal of Parkside Montessori. “Students feel known, valued, and encouraged in his class. Whether a student is developing confidence, learning a new skill, or simply having a rough day. Monty meets them with kindness, patience, and care. He embodies everything we hope for in an educator.”
Simo is known for his “Not Yet Days,” where students practice skills they want to improve on at their own pace.
