Rainfall warning issued for northern Alberta

May 14, 2026 | 12:18 PM

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning for rainfall that spans the majority of Alberta’s Peace Country and tracks east toward the Saskatchewan border.

Rainfall amounts are expected to be between 25 to 33 millimeters, with localized amounts of up to 50 millimeters possible.

Communities under this warning in the upper Peace Region include:

  • Rycroft
  • Woking
  • Fairview
  • Hines Creek
  • Worsley
  • Peace River
  • Cadotte Lake
  • Manning
  • High Prairie
  • Slave Lake

The national weather office says periods of rain will continue until Friday(May 15) before ending.

Water is likely to pool on roads and low-lying areas due to recent and continued above normal snow melt this spring.

Some places near the Saskatchewan border may see the rain transition in snowfall on Friday.

Environment Canada is warning people to not drive through flooded roadways, allow extra time for travel, and watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
