Road construction season set to start in Grande Prairie

City Hall says the construction season is ready to start in Grande Prairie.

There is a total of $28.5 million in the city’s 2026 budget for infrastructure and road work.

The city says in a news release that $15.23 million has been budgeted for road repairs.

There is also $5 million for the Mission Heights Storm Project. This will include replacing and realigning some worn-out sewer pipes, along with some other repairs.

There is also $4.5 million for fixing and replacing storm lines and $1.5 million for improving intersections.

The following are also included:

$600,000 for bridge repairs
$500,000 for sidewalk and pathway repairs
$316,000 for Inspection Programs
$200,000 for spillway repairs and maintenance

“Construction season is one of the most visible ways residents see long-term investment at work. These projects help keep Grande Prairie moving, support future growth and strengthen the infrastructure our community depends on every day,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton in a news release issued by City Hall.
