Road construction season in the County of Grande Prairie has officially begun.

County crews will be working on nearly 40 projects from now until November, weather depending.

In the 2026 Final Budget, County Council approved an allocation of $51.7 million for road improvements.

Work will include 15 grading projects for gravel roads, three pavement projects along Township Road 744, Range Road 53, and Range Road 92, paved road rehabilitation along Range Road 82 and Township Roads 712 and 714, bridge replacement and maintenance work along Range Roads 80, 114, and 132, and various smaller-scale road projects to take place during favourable weather.

“Work is planned across the county to ensure road improvements benefit residents and regional transportation needs,” says Ryan Konowalyk, the County’s General Manager of Transportation and Utilities. “Motorists can expect to encounter a range of activities, from grading our extensive gravel road network to paving, culvert work, and bridge projects.”

A detailed list of all the projects can be found at the county’s website.
