Grande Prairie lacrosse player to soon represent Alberta at nationals for a second time

May 16, 2026 | 6:02 AM

The only graduate of the Grande Prairie Thrashers lacrosse organization to make a provincial team is getting ready to represent Alberta on the national stage again.

Sixteen-year-old Coehn Bolin will be playing box lacrosse at nationals this year in Halifax after playing at field lacrosse nationals last year, also in Halifax.

“It just gave (some) clarification to me that I’m going in the right direction, makes me feel like all the work put in (has) really (paid off).”

“I’ve always dreamed of playing on Team Alberta, and it’s finally come true.”

Bolin moved to Calgary last year to pursue his lacrosse career at the National Sports Academy.

“It’s quite the environment. It’s such a good and strong environment to be around and (to) be around like-minded people that want the same goals for themselves.”

Bolin says he likes how his chosen sport builds character and personality.

“Lacrosse is my life, right? I (always) think lacrosse. You always want to play it. You always want to be around it, always have a stick in your hands.”

“It really drew me just how beautiful a sport it is. The history of it. Whether you can play inside (or) outside. The shooting. The physicality.”

Bolin hopes to play in the National Lacrosse League one day, calling that a dream and a goal.

Halifax will host box lacrosse nationals from August 11 to 15.
