High Prairie RCMP looking for attempted murder suspect

High Prairie RCMP say a suspect that is facing a charge of attempted murder after a shooting incident on Friday, May 15 at Kapawe’no First Nation is still at large.

Lucas Zane Auger, 31-years-old and from Driftpile, is also facing several weapons charges.

Mounties say that on May 15, they got a report at around 6 p.m. that two people fired shots at each other on a cul-de-sac in Kapawe’no First Nation.

One of the two was hit and collapsed nearby. They were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being given first aid by witnesses and police.

The gun they used was a handgun modified for automatic fire. It held 33 rounds of ammunition.

The second suspect got away and remains at large.
