GPFD extinguished early morning house fire

May 20, 2026 | 3:33 PM

The Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Crystal Ridge this morning (Wednesday, May 20).

GPFD says at 6:30 a.m. crews responded to a fire at a mobile home, where the caller reported flames coming through the roof.

Once at the scene, crews found all the occupants safely outside and began extinguishing the blaze, which took about 30 minutes to bring under control.

Crews did stay on site for an additional hour to check for hot spots and damage to neighbouring homes, while Emergency Health Services responded to assess one person for smoke inhalation.

At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation.

GPFD is using this as an opportunity to remind residents about the importance of working smoke detectors and ensuring one is installed on each level of your home.
