High Prairie RCMP investigate Tiktok threatening schools

May 20, 2026 | 12:14 PM

All High Prairie schools will have an increased police presence moving forward, as threats towards local schools were posted on TikTok.

Yesterday (Tuesday, May 19), at 11:47 a.m. RCMP were told several students had seen a video indicating threats to one of the schools.

They added that the TikTok video mentions an incident may happen on Friday, May 22, but no specific school was named.

High Prairie RCMP are now working with High Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) and Western Alberta District GIS to identify the account owner and the credibility of these threats.

At this time RCMP says they do “understand the stress related to these kinds of threats, and school attendance is the prerogative of the parents, and they should do what makes them feel safest.”

A similar incident took place in Peace River earlier this month (Thursday, May 7), and resulted in the arrest of one youth for uttering threats.

More updates are expected.
