May 22, 2026 | 6:01 AM

The Grande Prairie Stompede Parade is set to run on Saturday, May 23, and will cause some road closures.

Stretches of 100 Ave will close throughout the morning with the parade travelling westbound from 95 Street towards Muskoseepi Park:

Starting at 5 a.m.

100 Avenue westbound closes between 98 Street and 102 Street. North-south traffic remains open on 98 Street, 99 Street, 100 Street, 101 Street and 102 Street.

Starting at 10 a.m.

95 Street between 108 Avenue and 100 Avenue becomes restricted to local traffic as parade marshalling begins. A full closure follows closer to parade time.

Starting at approximately 11:30 a.m.

100 Avenue westbound closes at 92 Street.

Westbound drivers will detour via 116 Avenue and 68 Avenue. Local traffic can still access:

  • Hillside via 101 Avenue and 92 Street
  • Smith and Morgan Meadows via 96 Avenue and 92 Street

North-south traffic at 96 Street and 100 Avenue will also be restricted around noon.

During the parade

Rolling closures will affect north-south traffic from 96 Street to 102 Street as the parade progresses. Detours will be available via 92 Street or 108 Street.

Cross streets reopen once the parade passes and spectators have dispersed.

Transit will also be impacted with several routes closed until 2 p.m.:

From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Route 3 – Stop 302
  • Route 4 – Stop 402
  • Route 8 – Stop 802

From noon to 2 p.m.

  • Route 1 – Stops 3000, 164 and 166

The City did note that routes 2, 5 and 9 will operate as normal.

The parade is expected to finish up by 1 p.m., and the City is thanking residents in advance for their “patience and cooperation during this community celebration.”
