Stompede rodeo starts Wednesday

It is Day 1 of Stompede. 

The rodeo slack will start at noon today (Wednesday, May 27) at Evergreen Park. Main performances on Thursday through Sunday will start at 12:50 p.m. each day.

Two cowboys from the Peace lead their event in the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association standings heading into Stompede. 

Auzyn Corr of Grande Prairie is first in the bull riding standings, while Fort St. John’s Jacob Gardner is second.  

Albertans lead all the other events. That includes Layton Green of Millarville in saddle bronc, Wyatt Maines of Elkwater in bareback, Denton Dunham of Carstairs in tie-down roping, Pacean Deleeuw of Athabasca in steer wrestling, Blake Molle of Chauvin in barrel racing, and Mikenna Schauer of Halkirk in breakaway roping. 

Brett Buss of Ponoka is the leader among team roping headers. Joey Romo II of Nanton leads the team roping heelers.
