Vigen wins second straight night, Motowylo takes aggregate lead
The third evening of the World Professional Chuckwagons at the Grande Prairie Stompede had the reigning world champion, Chanse Vigen, cross the finish line the fastest for the second night in a row in front of his hometown crowd.
The track was a little heavier than the previous two days after some Friday (May 29) afternoon showers in Grande Prairie.
Vigen posted the fast time time with a penalty free run time of 1:15.17. His run was 54 one-hundredths of a second faster than Jason Glass. Defending GP champion Obrey Motowylo, Troy Dorchester, and Evan Salmond rounded out the top five fastest times of the night. Notably, four of the five fastest runs came from the evening’s final heat.
Motowylo moved into the aggregate lead on Day 3 with a three-day total time of 3:47.11; 69 one-hundredths of a second over Darcy Flad. Troy Dorchester sits third, and Preston Faithful is fourth to round out the final qualifying position for Sunday’s Championship Final Heat.
