Grande Prairie seniors’ home workers vote to join AUPE

Jun 4, 2026 | 12:00 PM

AUPE says more than 300 employees at a Grande Prairie seniors’ home have voted in favour of joining the union.

The vote for the workers at Prairie Lakes Seniors Community took place April 23 and 24.

The union says in a news release that they “overwhelmingly voted in favour to join AUPE,” but a percentage breakdown of the vote was not given.

AUPE says the employees “will now prepare to bargain for their first collective agreement.”

“They join thousands of other continuing care workers who have been fighting for more than two years to secure the wages and working conditions they deserve,” adds the union in its news release.
