City Hall in Grande Prairie downgrades fire restriction to fire advisory

Jun 5, 2026 | 4:06 PM

City Hall says the fire restriction in Grande Prairie has been downgraded to a fire advisory.

City officials say in a news release that conditions have improved, but are still dry.

The advisory means that backyard fire pits with screens, natural gas, charcoal and propane barbecues, wood smokers, and smudge fires are all allowed.

Open burning, fireworks, and fire pits without screens are not allowed.

People are asked not to do any burning if the wind is over 15 km/h. They should also have water close by and should never leave a fire unattended.
