Alberta U16 boys, U18 women’s football teams include Grande Prairie athletes

Alberta’s U16 boys and U18 girls football teams will both have some local representation.  

Grande Prairie’s Reid Hebert is part of the U16 boys Team Alberta that will play in the 2026 Football Canada Western Challenge in Winnipeg. It will go from June 30 to July 5. 

Hebert is a defensive lineman and plays high school football at Peace Wapiti Academy. 

Alberta will play Manitoba on July 2. The winner of that game goes to the gold medal game on July 5.  

Two athletes from Grande Prairie will play at the U18 Women’s National Championship in Regina. 

Defensive back Isabelle McFaul and tight end Kirklynn Unger are both from Grande Prairie. 

The championship runs from July 20-29.
