Council rejects one rezoning application, approves another at Monday’s meeting

City council rejected one rezoning application while approving another during public hearings at Monday’s council meeting.

Council turned down an application to rezone some land in the Stone Ridge area to make way for a multi-residential development that would have been for seniors.

The city got close to 20 letters of opposition from nearby residents worried about how this would change the neighbourhood, and things like traffic and lowered property values.

Council also approved rezoning on just over four hectares of land in the Arbour Hills area.

This will allow for the building of homes on small lots.

There are some existing homes on the west side of the rezoned area, with vacant land on the other sides.
