Opening for Grande Prairie’s multisport dome pushed to early 2027

Jun 25, 2026 | 6:03 AM

City Hall says the target opening date for Grande Prairie’s new multisport dome has been pushed back.

The city says in a post on its website that the target date is now early 2027.

The opening had been set for July of this year when a sod turning was held last August

The post does not give specific reasons for the delay.

It does say that “the project team continues to address remaining coordination, servicing, grading and approval requirements.”

The dome will include a full-size soccer pitch but can also be used for sports like rugby and football.

It is going up in the Trader Ridge area at 103 Street and 139 Avenue.
