Ride for Vision & Valour coming to the Peace this weekend

A fundraiser called the Ride for Vision & Valour will come to the Peace Country this weekend.

Motorcycle riders will be raising money for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children.

The fund was established by a member of the Military Police whose daughter lost her vision and later died from cancer of the eye. It is run by current and former members of the Military Police.

The fund provides devices, services and programs for young people up to the age of 21 who have lost their sight.

The ride started in Victoria on June 24. It is scheduled to travel from Edson to Whitecourt on Saturday, June 27, before going from Whitecourt to Grande Prairie on Sunday, June 28.

A fundraising BBQ will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Grande Prairie on Sunday from 5:30-8:00 p.m.

The riders will then head to High Prairie on Monday.

There will be a breakfast at the Veterans Memorial Gardens in Grande Prairie from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. on Monday, then a lunch at the Blueberry Mountain Community Hall from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The ride will head from High Prairie to CFB Edmonton on Tuesday, June 30.

It is scheduled to arrive back in Victoria on July 6.
