Jamie Laboucane takes first place in Day 1 of Calgary stampede Chuckwagon racing

The Calgary Stampede is underway!

Chuckwagon racing kicked off Friday, July 3, with the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby.

The evening ended with Jamie Laboucane taking the top spot with the fastest time of 1:10.98.

Coming in a close second, with a time of 1:11.05, was the defending champion and Grande Prairie’s own Chanse Vigen.

Rounding out the top three was Obrey Motowylo with a time of 1:11.69.

The top three drivers in the aggregate standings following racing on Saturday, July 11, will advance to the Championship Final Heat.

Day 2 of the Derby goes tonight, July 4 at 7:15 p.m.
