Fastball provincials, baseball, horse racing, rugby on the local sports scene this weekend

Fastball Provincials 

Pirates Minor Fastball is hosting the U13D and U15D girls provincials Friday through Sunday at South Bear. 

Two Pirates teams are taking part in the U13 D side, along with teams from Manning and Grimshaw.  

Games start at 9 a.m. Friday and  9:30 a.m. Saturday. Playoffs start at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, with the championship final starting at 3:15 p.m.

There is one Grande Prairie team on the U15D side. 

Games start at 9 a.m. all three days, with the final starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Baseball 

In the Wheatbelt Baseball League Saturday, Sexsmith will be in Peace River at 11 a.m. 

Manning hosts the County Brewers at noon, then hosts Sexsmith at 4 p.m.

 Sunday, Peace River in Rycroft starts at 1 p.m. 

Horse Racing

There will be horse racing Saturday and Sunday at Evergreen Park. 

Post time will be 1:15 p.m. both days. 

Sunday will be Baconfest Day.

Rugby 

The Sirens and Centaurs rugby teams host St. Albert Saturday at Macklin Field. 

The women’s game starts at 1 p.m. The men’s game follows at 3 p.m.
