The Grande Prairie Triathlon takes place on Sunday, July 12.

Due to the race, multiple road closures will be in place, while access to the Eastlink Centre aquatics area will be limited.

The pool will close early on Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. to allow crews time to set up for the event. It will stay closed to the public until 4 p.m. on Sunday, when it reopens for public swimming.

North Knowledge Way will also be closed starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, with all other road closures taking place on Sunday:

  • 68 Avenue will be closed in both directions from West Knowledge Way to Poplar Drive beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 12.
  • 100 Street from 67 Avenue to 72 Avenue beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 12.
  • Kateri Drive at 68 Avenue beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 12. There will be no through traffic on Kateri Drive (east of Mission Heights Drive) beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday. Both roads will remain open for local traffic only.

The city says roads will reopen by 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Transit routes will also be affected by the closures:

  • Route 1: Stops 118, 120, 124 and 2000
  • Route 2: Stops 224, 226, 228, 230, 234, 236, 238 and 2000
