Triple gold for Dawson at Canadian Swimming Trials

Grande Prairie’s Oliver Dawson is coming home from the Canadian Swimming Trials in Montreal with three gold medals. 

Dawson won the 100 metre breaststroke Thursday at the trials after earlier winning the 50 and 200 metre breaststroke events. 

Also at the trials, Marley Monson finished sixth in Thursday’s final of the women’s 100 metre breaststroke. 

Mikayla and Marissa Laurin and Hudson Frayn from the Piranhas also competed in Montreal.  

The trials served as qualification for the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships that will be held from August 12 to 15 in Irvine, California. 

Dawson will next compete with Team Canada at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The opening ceremony is set for July 23, with the swimming competition running from July 24 to 29.
