South part of the B.C. Peace now under a yellow warning for severe thunderstorms

UPDATE: The south part of the B.C Peace is now under a thunderstorm warning.

Environment Canada says it is tracking a storm that can produce wind, heavy rain and quarter.size hail that started near Wapiti Lake Provincial Park and is going northeast.

The weather office says people should take cover if a thunderstorm approaches.

Environment Canada has a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms in place for the south part of the B.C. Peace.

The weather office says conditions are right for the development of storms that can produce heavy rain, wind and hail.

The thunderstorm watch on the B.C. side reaches to Prince George.

In Alberta, thunderstorm watches are in place for areas from Drayton Valley to Lloydminster, down to Red Deer.

Several areas in southern Alberta, including Medicine Hat and Cypress Hills Provincial Park, are under yellow warnings for heat.
