Close to 58 per cent of the Peace Region crop in good or excellent condition says July 7 crop report

The July 7 crop report from the province and AFSC says that 57.9 per cent of the major crops in the Peace were rated in good to excellent condition as of that date. 

The five-year average is 50.6 per cent. The 10-year average is 60.4 per cent. 

The breakdown by crop is 64 per cent for barley, 63.2 per cent for spring wheat, 61.8 per cent for oats, 58.4 per cent for dry peas and 52.6 per cent for canola. 

That same rating across Alberta is 64.2 per cent. 

The report also says that 41.2 per cent of pasture growth is rated good, 34.7 per cent fair, 15.1 excellent, and nine per cent poor. 

As for tame hay, 46 per cent is rated good, 32 per cent fair, 15 per cent excellent and seven per cent poor.
