County of Grande Prairie council approves streamline grant application process

Jul 15, 2026 | 1:40 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is streamlining their application process for community grants.

At their meeting Monday, county council approved an updated policy that consolidates existing grants into the Connected Community grant.

The grant supports beautification projects, wellness and safety initiatives, and various festivals, fairs, and events through three funding streams: Community Vibrancy and Wellness, Emergent Funding Requests, and Sponsorship, Donations, and Community Support Requests.

“These changes will help the county better support the community groups and nonprofits that keep our region thriving,” says Hayley Kramps, director of recreation and culture. “By reducing the number of grant applications, applicants get to focus on making their projects a success, leading to better outcomes for everyone.”

The streamlined process is part of the cvounty’s ongoing efforts to enhance their recreation and culture grant policies, including a review of their capital grants policies in the fall.
